At the beginning of his presidency, Trump demanded a wall, thousands more ICE and CBP agents and the expansion of detention camps throughout the country. We must reimagine a society that truly protects and takes care of one another, and treats one another with dignity and respect.
I put the paper down and decided to do nothing about it. For the first time in nine years, we passed legislation through a chamber of Congress that protects immigrants and does not increase enforcement harms. Let this be a turning point, where we finally create a society that reflects the belief that all men and women are created equal.
Child care support for working families. Escalating student debt and child care costs. Scroll to see our impact in action• Whilst the twin headed hydra of crime and poverty has unleashed a bloody war among our young people.
We are working within our labor movement and our communities to place racial justice at the heart of our plans for the future. And the coolest thing about it is that many provisions were created by immigrant youth ourselves.
As an environmental community, we must speak out in the face of white supremacy, systemic injustice, and their fatal consequences.
As the one-year mark of George Floyd's murder approaches, we must continue to come together to demand accountability and justice for all and to demand that our elected leaders—especially those who have taken an oath to serve and protect us—to respect our rights, no matter our race, background, or where we live.
We must knock down these obstacles if we are going to —the promise that when you work hard and play by the rules, your family can thrive.
We must continue this momentum and ensure that future fights for justice are not perceived as a problem solely for the Black community to solve, but necessary to resolve for all of us to be free.
